Itinerary
Why Visit Lake Mountain?
Lake Mountain is named after a lake, but its location is unclear
The Alpine resort, named after Surveyor-General George Lake, does not have a lake to visit but instead offers a mountain. Visitors can quickly drive 120 km North East from Melbourne to the resort without transferring buses or lift passes.
Cross-country ski tracks and toboggan fields with modern facilities surround the resort. There are ample opportunities to enjoy the charming chalets with mountain views. Facilities at the resort include a restaurant, day shelter, cafe, ski equipment, retail shop, snow sports centre, ski school, and more.
Three hours of Snow Play
Visitors have three hours of free time to enjoy various activities, including tobogganing, cross-country skiing, snow-shoe walks, and snowball fights.
Visitors have the option to hike up to the summit of Lake Mountain for stunning snowy views.
Nature walk available at Steavenson Falls
In the afternoon, you can take a 700-meter walk to Steavenson Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in Victoria.
The waterfall in Marysville is named after John Steavenson, an Assistant Commissioner of Roads and Bridges who visited in 1862. It drops 84 meters into the Steavenson River Valley and is the central feature of the 190-hectare Steavenson Falls Scenic Reserve.
Steavenson Falls has been a popular tourist destination in Marysville since the 1860s due to its distinct allure and stunning natural beauty. It features five cascades and a total descent of 122 meters, leaving visitors in awe of this natural wonder.
Yarra Valley Chocolatiers and Ice Creamery
During our return journey to Melbourne, we pass through the Yarra Valley to visit a high-quality chocolate factory.
Visit Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery to satisfy your cravings for delicious chocolate. Explore their wide range of handmade chocolate products and treats, and even take some home.
Visitors can enjoy the scenic views of the picturesque Yarra Valley’s vineyards, hills, and mountain ranges. They can also indulge in the beauty and taste of Australia’s wine-producing valley.
