Itinerary

Join us for a half-day Jumping Croc Cruise on the Adelaide River, one of Darwin’s iconic tourist attractions. Experience the opportunity to observe dangerous and aggressive predators in their natural habitat.

From Darwin city, we travel approximately 60km southeast to the Marrakai wetlands, home to a wide variety of native birds and reptiles, including saltwater crocodiles.

The Top End of Australia has a population of over 100,000 saltwater crocodiles, primarily found in Darwin, Mary River, and the Adelaide River region. Therefore, it is highly likely that you will encounter many of them while exploring the natural waterways in the Northern Territory.

The saltwater crocodile is the largest reptile in the world. Additionally, it is one of the oldest living organisms, with origins dating back to the dinosaur age. These creatures can grow up to 6 meters long, equivalent to a small bus. They can weigh as much as 1000kg. One particular crocodile, known as ‘Sweetheart’, gained infamy locally. Sweetheart was captured near the Adelaide River. It had a habit of chewing motors off fishermen’s boats and stealing cows from local farmers. Unfortunately, Sweetheart passed away in 1979. However, it has been preserved in the Darwin Museum through taxidermy.

Our staff is equipped with Wildlife Permits by National Parks and Wildlife to ensure the well-being of animals during our interactions.
